Community Service (Karma Yoga) with Joy Team
Karma yoga is one of the main paths of yoga that a practitioner can follow. The name comes from the Sanskrit term meaning “action” or “deed.” Therefore, it is the path of action, or selfless service towards others. Sri Aurobindo and Mother considered that practicing path of works was one of the most effective way to develop spiritually. Volunteering one’s time and effort is often used as an example of karma yoga, but the most important thing is the attitude to the action, rather than the action itself, which makes something karma yoga. This means acting with the right motives, in the right way, to the best of one’s ability, but surrendering attachment to the outcome. Here in Joy Community, we try our best to practice every day such path and we would like to share a day with guests who are keen to do manual work to develop and maintain our beautiful place.
These sessions do not require advance registration (drop-in) and they are suitable for everyone. Participation is free and we also offer a typical Aurovillian farmers breakfast. If you need more information, you can contact directly Joy Community by phone or Whatsapp (+91
Every Thursday 9 am to 12:00 pm
About the Community
Joy Community is defined by a culture of creativity, happiness, and integrity; where everybody is dedicated to inner growth and the manifestation of Auroville’s Dream as per Sri Aurobindo and Mother’s teachings. Therefore, we commit to be a joyful center for experiential learning where we work together in a spirit of service, yet giving freedom of expression to each one’s unique needs, vocation, truth and soul purpose. Our project is open to everyone who wants to truly connect; yet, we mainly direct our efforts towards youth, volunteers and long-term guests who wish to honor Mother Earth, bring into practice spiritual values, deepen their experience in Auroville and be happy… 🙂
